Centenary Memories Across Time

Submitted by Helen Thornton ’79

I participated in the 150 year celebrations. Dr. Webb was coming on board as president. I took classes from Dr. Viva Rainey, Dr. Webb Pomeroy, Mr. Robert Ed Taylor, Mr. Dave Stone, Dr. Wayne Hanson, Dr. Charles Vetter, Dr. Nolan Shaw, Dr. Louis Bettinger, Dr. Dorothy Gwin, Dr. Laslie, Dr. Alton Hancock, Dr. Lee Morgan, Dr. Earle Labor, Robert Buseick and others.  All of these professors made an impact on my life in so many ways. They shared knowledge, offered guidance, and paved the way for me to continue on in life.  I attended Centenary as an older adult and as a single parent. Shreveport was not my home. A new location, new people and a new chapter in life were all in the package when I attended Centenary. Some wonderful memories were made there. Thank you for those memories.

By the way, I can still quote the honor code!

β€œI have not given nor received any unauthorized help, nor have I seen anyone else do so.”

Hope it is still in place.
